This paper presents the steps to structure a computer program for the selection of gas turbine cogeneration systems utilizing heat recovery steam generator associated with biomass gasifiers. The computer program selects a gas turbine system based in a databank of commercially available devices, according the steam requirement of an industry. In addition, it corrects the temperature of the pinch-point and the performance of the selected systems, for the local conditions of installation. The computer code permits the energetic and exergetic studies of the cogeneration plant looking for the best gas turbine system previously selected, according with the Gas Turbine World Handbook. Also are determinate the efficiencies levels based in First and Second Laws of Thermodynamic for the cogeneration plant applied in a sugarcane industry to bagasse gasification. As conclusion, the best cogeneration system is selected and can increase the generation of electricity surplus in the sugar industry that can be selled to the grid.
