She graduated in Biological Sciences (1998), holds a Masters Degree in Genetics and Improvement from the Federal University of Viçosa (2001) and a PhD in Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology from Cornell University, USA (2008), with a concentration in Molecular Plant Biology. She is currently a Researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa Milho e Sorgo), working with molecular and biochemical characterization of sorghum biomass for biofuel production and genetic and molecular studies associated with resistance to diseases in corn and sorghum. Until 2016, she also worked as a teacher-mentor of the Postgraduate Course in Bioengineering at the Federal University of São João del Rei.
